Mail art has incredible historical signifigance, bending the rules of what counts as "art" and enabling the creation of unique kinds of community. Not often shown in gallery settings, Arom sought to use our not-for-profit status to highlight the lasting historical impact and ongoing creation of mail art without contributing to the gallerization of the work. Featuring artists from around the world, Posta celebrates the creation of mail as art and seeks to create greater knowledge of the practice in Budapest.

Virtual Walkthrough

For this non-traditional medium, curator Wade Burleson explored different installation methods. Envelopes are hung alongside the work that came with them, contextualizing the pieces within the unifying mail theme. Due to the gallery's small size, works will rotate on the wall and at the table throughout the show, allowing viewers to engage with a selection of mail art at a more intimate level.

Featuring works by Kristina Paabus, Ruggero Maggi, Darby Jahn, Jake Hinz, Michelle Li, and the work of an anonymous artist lent to us by Michel Fitos.
